President Cherise, Vice President Jen, in-country Board members John and Liz, and friends and volunteers Shelley, Alfredo, and Abraham, went to La Ceiba and Saba to meet with old friends and make new ones during a trip February 8-15, 2020.

We met again with hospital administrators at the public hospital in La Ceiba to explore medical mission work there. We also met with the directors of a small clinic about 15 minutes outside of La Ceiba. While the need is great, we ultimately felt that Children of Soledad should continue the work in the community near Saba where we felt called initially and defer our involvement in medical work at this time.

We met with Yesinia and Pastor Leo and were presented with detailed plans to move forward with the work of the community's top three stated needs: 1. mitigation of unsanitary waste water causing illness and disease in the community; 2. building additional rooms onto the school to accommodate the growing student body; 3. increased access to and distribution of clean water.

In the coming months, the Board of Directors will continue the work that it will take to support this community in health, spiritual growth, and relationship building.

We are honored God chose us.

If you would like to partner with us, follow us on social media (FaceBook and Instagram); pray for the work God is doing near Saba Honduras; and consider making a donation to support the children and their families.

Children of Soledad Board members are strictly volunteers and pay their own way for trips to Honduras. Children of Soledad supported this trip by covering the cost of the rental van for in-country travel. All other food, transportation, lodging, and interpreter expenses were paid directly by the participants.
